Sustainability

There are few better examples of the impact of Climate Change than the reduction in size of the world’s glaciers.

SUSTAINABILITY

So what are we doing?:

We are constantly striving to pinpoint opportunities for emission reduction, energy conservation, and heightened awareness regarding present and impending climate change risks.

Our aim is to enhance transparency in our operations, maximize efficiency, and address areas that require improvement. Through a comprehensive understanding of our energy consumption and resource management, we are committed to identifying avenues to minimize waste. These proactive measures are essential for our success both in the present and the future.

The Tasman Glacier is shrinking at a rate of 1 and 1/2 football fields a year or 150metres
We began with small steps which eventually lead to us partnering with Toitu and becoming certified as net carbonzero in 2023.

About the Toitū net carbonzero certification

Toitū net carbonzero organisation certification is proof an organisation is positively contributing to the sustainability of our future through measuring, reducing and offsetting their carbon footprint. To achieve Toitū net carbonzero certification, an organisation measures all operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions required under the international standard for carbon footprints, ISO 14064-1, including vehicles, business travel, fuel and electricity, paper, and waste. The emissions are measured annually, and the inventory is independently verified to ensure it is accurate and complete. Once they have measured their footprint, the organisation must develop plans to continually manage and reduce their emissions. Each year, unavoidable emissions are offset through the purchase of quality carbon credits to achieve net zero emissions. The organisation must reduce emissions on a six-year cycle.
